Teapots and Twirls hosts Jim and Nicky!
Oct 09 2016 · Tea dances, WorkshopsOn a crisp autumnal morning in early October, these lovely people came to town to warm us up with their smiley faces and super-fast dance moves!
Jim and Nicky hail from Swingbytes in Gloucestershire and teach Collegiate Shag. Shag is a very up-tempo swing dance originating from 1920s America and involves lots of kicks and bounces, as well as hilarious not-so-subtle puns. SHAG! GEDDIT?! (Sorry…)
We began the day by caffeinating ourselves in preparation… then it was onto the dancefloor for a three-hour lesson on the basics of shagging.
Slow… slow… quick-quick…slow… slow… quick-quick… repeat…
All shagged out after a three-hour class!
After the workshop, all the usual tea dance fun swung into action, with live music from the ever-fabulous Big Easy, who filled the floor with a whole range of tempos.
And High Spirits also regaled the room with two swinging numbers.
As ever, thanks for coming to dance, drink tea and support our charity raffle. We made a fantastic £115 for The Fostering Network, which is super-cool. You guys rock!

Peace out. x
