Teapots and Twirls hosts Simon BressanelliOct 04 2014 · Tea dances, Workshops
T’was a blustery-yet-sunny Saturday at the beginning of October when the super-awesome Simon Bressanelli came to teach a workshop at Teapots and Twirls!
Simon studied at Leeds and was an integral part of the lindy community before he left us and headed south to teach at Swing Patrol in London. Along with a magnificent quiff and feet that don’t ever stop dancing, he brought a mahoussive amount of lindy wisdom up from The Big Smoke. We worked on incorporating more flow into routines, learnt some VERY fancy footwork variations and he’d even choreographed a solo jazz routine to Slim and Slam’s ‘Gangbuster’, which was pretty darn awesome.
The Class of Bressanoodle
After three hours of workshopping, plus lots of food, cake, tea and tomfoolery, we began the tea dance. Music was provided by the ever-amazing Leeds City Stompers and within minutes the dance floor was swinging, much cake was being scoffed and copious amounts of tea was being quaffed.
Loving your work, Leeds City Stompers!
Even the Kitchen Crew got in the mood!
High Spirits Choir performed two new songs for us all, and at the end of the day, the workshop-goers showed off their newly learnt Gang Buster routine, led by the brilliant Bressanoodle…
Yet again, it was an ace event enjoyed by all, not least US! And we raised £110 for Exceed (formerly The Cambodia Trust), which is our best amount yet. Nice work guys!
So a whole bundle of thanks to all of you, but especially to Simon for being so super-cool. Please come back sooooon!
