The Teapots and Twirls February Frolic
Feb 24 2015 · Tea dancesIt felt very much like spring had sprung when we opened the doors for the Teapots and Twirls February Frolic. The sky was bright blue and the sun streamed in the windows as we hung the last string of bunting (helpfully aided by one of our youngest members).
Our band this time were new to Teapots and Twirls: Phil Lyons and his New Vintage Band. Their fantastically varied set ranged from bluesy, cruise-y laid-back numbers, to fast and furious rock ‘n’ roll – and they certainly got the dancefloor swinging!
We had not one, two, three, but FOUR birthdays this time round, so the birthday jam circle got a bit hectic! The happiest of birthdays to Petra, Amanda and our very own Doorman Edd and Twirly Tessa – hope you all had smashers!
Team birthday!
One of the things we love about Teapots and Twirls is its wide appeal to all ages. Our oldest attendee (last year) was almost 90 years old, and this time round some of our youngest members had their very own little tea party!
Speaking of young members, Teapots and Twirls will now have a bit of a break before returning in October (date TBC) so that our VERY youngest member can make her way earthside.
As always, a zillion thank yous for supporting our little tea dances – we love putting them on and always have a brilliant time baking, dancing and raising money for charity. This event raised a fab £102 for SARSVL (Support After Rape and Sexual Violence Leeds), an invaluable resource for women in Leeds affected by sexual abuse and rape. Cheers guys – you’re awesome!
