The Teapots and Twirls Woop-Woop-It’s-Nearly-Christmas Tea Dance!Nov 29 2014 · Tea dances
Ok, so it was only the 29th November and therefore not strictly the festive season, but with less than a month to go to Christmas we decided that an early Yule would be cool. Right? Right?!
So festive cakes were baked, mulled wine was, er, mulled, and the old Christmas tree was dragged out of hibernation and draped in sparkly shiny things. Yay!
There was no morning workshop this time, so the four-hour tea dance seemed to fly by in a whirl of swinging tunes and twirling bodies. Music was provided by The Big Easy and the a very festive High Spirits Choir donned their finest Christmas jumpers to sing a couple of swing songs for us.
It was the lovely Krystel’s birthday, which could mean only one thing… JAM CIRCLE! With steals from both male and female leads, we made sure that the Birthday Girl was well and truly worn out by the time she stopped dancing.
We also broke our raffle record, raising a smashing £116 for the NSPCC, which will be donated via Lindy at the Light. Lindy at the Light is a fantastic day-long swing-a-thon in Leeds, which is taking place at The Light in Leeds 13th December to raise money for the NSPCC. For more information about the event or if you’d like to sponsor the dancers (including our newest, tiniest dancing troupe, THE LINDY TOTS!), check out their Facebook page here.
And so, once the free mulled wine had been quaffed, the cake had been scoffed and lots of lovely dances had been had, we said goodbye to everyone until 2015. Merry Christmas to all and see you next year!
